About
Mara is a senior at Brandeis University pursuing a B.A. in Psychology and Health, Science, Society, & Policy (Public Health). She was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and goes back and forth between there and Brandeis, which is located just outside of Boston. Mara is passionate about mental health and is hoping to become a clinical psychologist after graduation.
Mara has strong knowledge about and experience in the mental health field. Mara is a peer hotline responder for her university’s mental health hotline, an ambassador and facilitator for her university’s chapter of The Body Positive, a former content and media intern at a youth mental health non-profit called The Youth Mental Health Project, and a former intern in a government-funded classroom for autistic students in Paris, France. Throughout her work, she has solidified her knowledge and expertise in active listening, motivational interviewing, affirmation and validation, and applied behavioral analysis (ABA).
Mara is an intern for MFTS helping with practice outreach and marketing, while also learning about the inner workings of a private mental health practice. Mara is excited to gain experience working in her desired field and contribute the skills she has acquired to help the practice flourish!
